Little Knights

Little Knights

PreSchool and Pre-K at St. Columbkille School

Students enrolled in PreSchool and Pre-K will be immersed in literacy and math concepts naturally through play and centers based activities.

Students will grow as responsible community members by engaging in play and learning to socialize positively with peers. Students will participate in developmentally appropriate lessons designed to enhance vocabulary, concepts about print, early literacy, early numeracy, science, and history.

At St. Columbkille, we immerse our students at the early grade levels in Science of Reading based instruction. Science of Reading instruction is researched-based to strengthen early literacy skills such as phonemic awareness and phonics. Our primary focus at the PreSchool and Pre-K level is to build a strong phonemic awareness foundation before focusing on phonics.

Our Little Knights will also engage in collaborative activities to manipulate and enhance early mathematical concepts, discover the world around them through scientific inquiry, and learn to think critically about historical events.
